We’ve been invited to run a free full day Windows 8 App workshop at The Edge as part of the National Telework Week celebrations.
Abstract
In this workshop Bronwen will introduce you to the world of Windows 8 RT apps. The workshop is intended to give you a kick-start when it comes to planning and building your app on Windows 8.
The day will be divided into sections based on a concept which will contain a presentation giving an overview of the area, Hands-On-Labs related to the section, and workbook activities for participants to plan out parts of their app.
The day will cover a range of topics including – orientation, navigation, hierarchy of an application, search, share, app bars and live tiles.
What you need to bring:
- Pen
- Laptop
- Copy (soft or hard) of the following Hands On Labs. Note: You can do these in either C#/Xaml or HTML/Javascript
What software you’ll need:
- Windows 8
- Visual Studio 2012 (full or express) – trials can be downloaded here.
- Calisto – available as a Nuget package
