TranshubSince we announced TransHub Sydney there’s been a few articles popping up around the place. Thought it’d be a good time to put the ones we know about in one place.

TechAU interviewed John at Teched Australia about TransHub and posted an article the day TranHub went live on the marketplace – TransHub taps Gov Data to Minimise Multi-Mode Commute Times

WPCentral did a write-up about the app just after TransHub hit the marketplace: TransHub lands down under in the Marketplace

1800 pocket pc did an article on the spotlight finalists: Apps from Spotlight 2011

It includes a brief video interview we did at Teched Australia

We made it into the app list on cnet : http://www.cnet.com.au/friday-app-wrap_p2-339306461.htm

Yesterday, the MVP team posted about TransHub on their blog: MVP’s Windows Phone 7 App Wins Top Honors – and Helps Ease Public Commute in Sydney

KinectSensorIt’s been a few weeks since Teched, but it also feels just like yesterday. We’ve been busy with TransHub and Build and Tuesday we even did a last minute Qld MSDN User Group presentation on the Kinect SDK.

For anyone that missed our talk the video of our Teched Australia talk is available online for download or you can watch it below:

While we were at Teched, John spoke to Stuart Kennedy about the potential we saw for Kinect SDK and got a mention in an Article in The Australian – The Kinect hits the fast lane for mull-use apps.

7_hisherstablet Day 1 of Build is over! Today Microsoft shared with the world their brave new Operating System, Windows 8.

Honestly we weren’t expecting much more than a new touch shell on Windows 7. We were wrong. A whole new API, WinRT, provides c++, c# and HTML5 developers with the full power of windows in new “Metro” applications. These applications can be packaged up and sold through the new online marketplace, it looks like a next generation of the current Windows Phone marketplace.

It was interesting to get some stats around Windows 7:

Approaching 450,000,000 copies sold Consumer usage is greater than Windows XP 542,000,000 people signing into Windows Liver Services per month 5_win8platform

badge Today we headed off to LAX via Sydney for Build. Had my first flight on an A380 today as we rarely fly through Sydney. The entertainment system and the noise level are definite improvements over the 747. Even though there’s a 747 flight a few hours before on the same day this plane was pretty much full. Takes a really long time to load up one of these but seems to be heaps of overhead bin room for your carryon.

Two flights came in at the same time so it took a fair amount of time to make it through customs, and I managed to break the finger print scanner. We decided to try the shuttle out to Anaheim and jumped on the Disney Express Shuttle ($22 p/p + tip) and they drop you at your hotel which is pretty cool. We discovered we were at the wrong hotel and did a quick switch so we were walking distance from the convention centre (thanks to the very helpful lady at Double Tree).

Then off to the Convention Centre to pick up our badges. Walking into the convention centre the registration area is MASSIVE, in fact the whole area is huge. Looking forward to the big keynote tomorrow!

Spotlight_SoulSolutions_small

Last Wednesday, after months of really hard work, we presented our Spotlight competition entry to an audience of over 100 people including Microsoft staff, Government officials and of course Teched Australia attendees. We were up against some great competition with some really cool applications using government data.

The competition came down to audience vote at the end of the night, and we’re excited to be able to say we WON!

As part of our prize we’re off to BUILD next week and hopefully gain some knowledge on how to expand TransHub onto other devices/platforms in the near future.

We’d like to thank everyone who voted for us and all the people that came and spoke to us during the event about the application.

We’d also like to thank those that helped us test and make the application better.  We’re taking feedback over at http://feedback.transhub.com so we can put in the features you think are most important.

TransHub Sydney can be downloaded at http://syd.transhub.com

We’re currently looking for beta testers for TransHub Perth –...

We spent last week down on the Gold Coast for Teched Austalia. It was a MASSIVE week for us. While we were there we did a talk on the Kinect SDK, did our presentation for the Spotlight Showdown, and won a trip to BUILD and  of course talked to a bunch of you about TransHub over on the Spotlight booth and KinectSDK over at the Kinect booth.

We had a great audience at our Kinect Session here in Australia. It was standing room only, and everyone was keen to participate to help make the talk a success.  We brought a long a few props to make the session a bit more interesting…

We had Chucky and my Female artist manikin to help explain the difference between person and what the skeleton tracking does.

6We’re pleased to announce that TransHub Sydney is now LIVE for download and purchase on the marketplace. You can get it at http://syd.transhub.com.

If you want to test it out before you buy it from the marketplace, it comes with a fully functional, 7 day trial period. It’s available to download for people with an Australian live id, and we’ve just opened it to USA live id this morning (but may take 24hrs to filter through).

We’d love to hear your feedback, so make sure you head over to http://feedback.transhub.com and tell us all the features and improvements you’d like to see for future versions so we can make this the best public transport application on Windows Phone 7.

mobilemonday

We’re down in Sydney on Monday the 5th September and we’re heading over to Mobile Monday Sydney to give a short presentation about TransHub.

We’ll get the opportunity to personally road test the application when we come down.

We’ve got a 5 minute slot at the event which is being held at Kent Street Living Room, Level 1, The City Hotel with doors opening at 6:30pm for  a 7pm start.

We’d love to hear from anyone who has ideas for the application or those that have tried it and have some feedback or of course if you’re just there to say hello.
